Air Canada Potential Labor Action Update

August 30, 2024

Attention Importers,

The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) has recently released a letter detailing the potential impacts that the looming job action coming from the pilots of Air Canada could have on Canada's commerce. This is a notice warning you, as an importer, of the potential challenges posed and the solutions we can offer, should this job action come to pass.

Labor action of this type will inherently have an effect on nearly all types of imports and exports into and out of Canada - particularly those that are time-sensitive, such as produce, meat, fish, and other refrigerated goods.

If you are an importer or exporter of these kinds of goods, delays should be an expected outcome if this labor action begins, and while nothing is set into motion yet, it is advisable that you contact your freight forwarder now for alternative shipping options. A proactive approach will be the best way to stay adaptable should such an event occur.

For more information about how potential labor action from Air Canada may affect your imports, please do not hesitate to contact our team today at 888.538.566 or at office@pcb.ca.
