Three-Day Walk-Out Concludes at Montreal Docks, but Future Labor Action Is Still Possible

October 4, 2024

The three-day walk-out at the Viau and Maisonneuve terminals has ended, but negotiations between the Canadian Union of Public Employees and the Maritime Employers Association have not yet yielded a new deal, and further labor action seems possible.

If you are an importer with goods moving through Montreal docks while the docks are open again, it is recommended you prepare in advance for potential labor action, as the union’s strike mandate lasts through the month of November.

For more information, a statement from the union can be found on their website.

PCB will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
