The CBSA announced that CARM has been delayed until October 2024 due to ongoing labor action.
What this means for you:
This is great news for those who were feeling the pressure of a rapidly closing deadline, but do not count on it being repeated in the future - act now.
The CBSA intends to make this live on their internal servers according to the previous schedule - in October, there is nothing left to do on their end but make it live for Canadian Commercial Importers.
It is a scenic route to the same destination, not a roadblock. We encourage you to maintain the same energy of the tighter deadline, and get into the portal as soon as possible.
We offer a wide range of services that can help you through this process:
This free document covers everything you need to know about getting prepared for CARM, including how to set up your Client Portal. It gives you a step-by-step guide through the process, along with resources you can turn to for more information should you need it. This is the option for the importer who is looking to get started today.
How to Prepare for CARM - Webinar
In this free live webinar, industry experts will guide you and your peers through the process of setting up and living in a post-CARM world. They are scheduled every few weeks, and you are encouraged to save your seat as soon as possible. The next one is on April 30, 2024.
This is the option for the importer who doesn’t want to pay an additional fee but is seeking a convenient way to gain quality information and resources needed to register for the CARM Client Portal.
In this one-hour, step-by-step virtual assistance session, we walk you through the registration process and explain everything you will need to know about entering the CARM Client Portal.
In most cases, importers who take advantage of this solution will be registered and have a full understanding of the CARM Client Portal at the session's conclusion.
This D120 Customs Bond will allow importers to enjoy Release Prior To Payment (RPP) privileges at the port of crossing. This means that their goods will be released into Canada prior to paying the duties and taxes (which will instead be paid after importation).
Many businesses were feeling a sense of pressure and urgency in the final moments before CARM’s expected launch date, and we encourage you to maintain this sense of urgency in the months to come and get into the CARM Client Portal as soon as possible.
