As an update to the ongoing Customs Border Service Agency’s labor action, a Public Interest Commission (PIC) was held in April, and a non-binding PIC report is expected to be released imminently. The release of this report will dictate the timing with which PSAC will be in a legal strike position, and that release is expected to occur in early June. 

This is a reminder that 90% of frontline Border Services Officers are counted as essential workers. While they will continue to serve in their official functions even in the event of a strike, this still could represent significant delays for importers. 

You are encouraged to prepare by sending in release requests early to avoid impacts in the face of this potential disruption.
