Effective April 1, 2019, some Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) will increase. This increase is as a result of the Auditor General's Audit of Customs Duties report in 2017. The report criticized the current penalty amounts as being too low to to improve compliance.

A total of 22 contravention relating to commercial trade will be increased as shown here.

If you have received any of the above contraventions, your record will be reset to zero. This means that if you were found in contravention prior to April 1, 2019, your record will still show this contravention, but your penalty will begin at the first infraction level.
