On March 3rd, 2025, the US government announced its plan to triple the current anti-dumping duties on Canadian softwood lumber imports into the US. If enacted, they would raise the total levies to just under 27% (20.07% antidumping rate plus an additional 6.74% worth of countervailing duties).
These levies are up from the 7.66% established three years ago and will be in addition to the 25% tariff on all Canadian goods that were imposed on March 4th, 2025.
