January 29 - CN Rail and its Signals and Communications workers have reached a tentative new deal. While the tentative four-year agreement still requires ratification, it has, for now, effectively avoided a strike.

January 25 - CN Rail has indicated their intention to begin labor action in a 72-hour strike notice delivered on January 25th, 2025. This notice is backed by a 95% strike mandate from the workers of CN Rail and notes improvements to work-life balance and higher pay as key negotiation issues. The railway has stated that it has contingencies to keep the supply chain moving, but if no deal is reached, the workers could be on the picket line as early as January 28th.
