As of Thursday, August 22, the Canadian Government has stepped in to end the rail shutdown less than a day after it began. 

In a quote, Canadian Labor Minister Steve MacKinnon states that he has “directed the Canada Industrial Relations Board to assist the parties in settling the outstanding terms of their collective agreements by imposing final binding arbitration.”
